-[TNA Weekly News for 08-16-2009]-

- Abusing The Freak -

Kurt Angle makes the top of the TNA pro wrestling news list this week. Apparently, he was arrested in Pittsburgh after his girlfriend, Trenesha Biggers (Rhaka Khan) called the police on him to file protection from abuse order. Later that morning, Biggers called police again from a Starbucks claiming Angle was stalking her and had taken her phone to delete the pictures she had of the abuse. Kurt was arrested and is charged with driving while operating privledges suspended, prohibited acts, possession of illegal substances, and harassment. There’s a certain irony in this whole story that leads back to the Karen Angle and Jeff Jarrett situation. Since his arrest, Kurt has made bail and as far as I can tell, he will be able to do the Hard Justice PPV this Sunday.

- Firing and  Hiring -

Scott D’Amore is returning to TNA as an agent for the Knockouts division once again. Hopefully this will mean even better Knockout matches. There may be more TNA firings on the way, Jim Cornette and BG James are said to be on the chopping block. Cornette gets paid as both on screen talent and backstage agent. BG James problem stems from a “lack of job performance”. Christy Hemme returned to the TNA Knockout division this week defeating Sojourner Bolt.

- Knockout & X-Division News -

Total Nonstop Action and Spike television are working on a deal to show more wrestling related programming on the network. Some possibilities are an entire show dedicated to the X-Division and/or Knockouts. There have even been threats of allowing Jeremy Borash to air his internet show “Spin Cycle” (Heaven forbid) on the network.

- Hard Justice iMPACT! -

If you missed TNA iMPACT! last Thursday night, well, shame on you. The show started and ended in complete choas. All of the wrestlers in TNA were fighting in and outside of the ring.

-[WWE Weekly News for 08-16-2009]-

- Senator Linda McMahon?  -

Linda McMahon has expressed interest in the senate seat for 2010. If she does, Chris Dodd, the current US senator may have a very difficult time retaining his seat, considering he is responsible for this housing mess, andm Linda has tons of money and credentials to throw in the ring (no pun intended).

- Raw’s Guest GM Information -

Sgt. Slaughter hosted the guest general manager position this past monday night on Raw. I thought the show went over well as Slaughter pulled out the old controversial Canada vs United States gimmick. All in all, the guest host spot was done decently, Sarge can still play the heel well. Freddie Prinze Jr. will be the guest general manager of Raw next week, and the August 24th Raw show is scheduled to be themed “Raw Roulette” and will feature Floyd Mayweather as the guest general manager. Trish Stratus was officially approached by WWE to host the September 14th Raw show that will air in Toronto. No word as of yet as to whether Trish has accepted or not.

- Chris Jericho is Y10J -

Chris celebrated (and may still be celebrating) 10 years in World Wrestling Entertainment. There are only a handful of wrestlers still competing in WWE that were there when Jericho left World Championship Wresting to join the WWE roster. Congrads Jericho, even though you are an ego-maniac, you are just as much, if not more, “the man” in WWE as Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker are.

- Bans Lifted And Firings Begin -

The life time ban of The Miz from Raw, unfortunately, only lasted one week. Last Monday he appeared wearing a mask and defeated (snicker) Eugene in a contract on a pole match that lasted under 5 minutes. Eugene was dropped from the WWE roster again after only one appearance. My guess was WWE was showing us we can either be happy with Miz, or we can get the retarded Eugene back. Ricky Ortiz was released from his WWE contract this week, no word on yet as of why.

- Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) –

The ECW show this week was decent and featured Christian vs William Regal. A lot of decent match ups are coming out of ECW recently with the new talent initiative. But how long are Koslov and Jackson going to try and show each other up with jobbing wrestlers instead of mixing it up? Tommy Dreamer is turning into the new hardcore king of the WWE. While being pretty badly injured during the extreme rules fight last week, Tommy seems to bring something to the ring regardless.

- Superstars Seeing Stars? –

WWE Superstars was top notch this week featuring two especially good matches. John Morrison vs David Hart Smith. After watching this match up, I had to laugh when I saw Morrison use a rendition of AJ Stylespele kick. And speaking of Styles, Michelle McCool’s finishing move, the Faithbreaker, looks oddly enough like the Styles clash and now Morrison is using a rendition of the pele kick (which to his credit is modified). It made me wonder what kind of match AJ Styles vs John Morrison would bring. Also, Shaemus and Goldust squared off in a second match that brought both wrestlers some serious credibility. Goldust was fantastic and won the bout, but Shaemus made the veteran work for his win.

- The Hardy Plot Goes Bust –

Matt Hardy spent some of yesterday blogging about his sibling rivalry with this brother Jeff and how things in his life have dramatically changed in the past year. Matt pretty much revealed that the Hardyz feud was completely staged and the Hardy Boyz are back in business!

- Triple H on Jimmy Falon –

Triple H appeared on Jimmy Falon this week here’s the clip:

- Whassup With Pretty Ricky? -

R Truth is a talented thirty seven year old that seems stuck playing second fiddle in WWE. While he is creative, talented, and well liked among management, creative seems to have nothing for him. Unfortunately, Truth may wind up playing Pretty Ricky” permanently in order to hold his job and keep McMahon entertained.

-[Other Weekly News for 08-16-2009]-

- One Of The Hogans Know Best -

Hulk Hogan’s back finally gave out this week and he was rushed to the hospital after suffering a sudden collapse. Hogan opted for a laser surgery that was filmed  and broadcast on his daughter Brooke’s new reality show, “Brooke knows best“.
