-[WWE Pro Wrestling News]-
- SummerSlam is the top subject in pro wrestling news this week. It occurred on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 andĀ featured CM Punk vs Jeff Hardy in a TLC match for the Heavyweight Championship, Randy Orton vs John Cena for the WWE Championship, and Chris Jericho and the Big Show vs Cryme Tyme for the Tag Team Championships. Read more on SummerSlam here.
- Speaking of pay-per-views, WWE has issued surveys to select individuals asking them to consider the following PPV matches :
- A Street Fight Night – All main events would be no disqualification street fights.
- Tournament Event – A singles elimination tournament.
- TLC – All main events would be tables, ladders, and chair matches.
- Shaquille O’Neal vs The Big Show? Sha right, as if the NBA would take the risk of anything happening to Shaq. We’d all love to see it, especially since we were teased so badly when Shaq hosted RAW. While Big Show would obviously dominate O’Neal in the ring, it’s doubtful we’ll be given the chance to see it.
- The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has posted on their blog that they are upset that Vince McMahon “belittled” the Cirque du Soleil artists that appeared on Monday Night’s Raw show by saying that the masks they were wearing were “really gay”. This group claims Vince used the word in a “derogatory manner in an example of how people just throw the “gay” word around”. Can any one say word police?
- While last Monday Night’s RAW episode quite possibly featured Lillian Garcia as ring announcer for the last time, the search for her replacement is still in the works. Angela Long has been doing the house shows, however, WWE is still looking for a female personality with a singing background. On August 23rd, 2009, Lillian became the first ever “Decade Diva” marking her tenth year with World Wrestling Entertainment.
- As of right now, CM Punk will begin a first time feud with The Undertaker slated to be featured in September Smackdown episodes.
- John Cena made pro wrestling news with his interview for Sporting News Radio on August 20th regarding WWE’s shift to PG television. Cena stated the he thought is was important that the show be family friendly. He also stated that he wished Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) had never left WWE. Dwayne stated at one point that he had no plans to quit wrestling, but that was a short lived promise. Cena makes the same promise, but claims he means it.
- Vince McMahon is looking to launch his own cable network within the next two years according to the Los Angeles Times. It seems kind of silly to start a 24/7 network of wrestling when WWE lacks the talent to fill the six hours of weekly airtime they do have, unless they plan to make the network re-played and re-packaged matches.
- Rey Mysterio will start a thirty-day suspension starting September 2nd due to violations of WWE’s wellness policy. Apparently the firing of Brian Kendrick for use of marijuana has stirred up things backstage and Mysterio will be the latest example. It makes me wonder if Rey is kicking himself for renewing his contract with WWE when he could have went back to Mexico and retained his own lifestyle without being suspended or required to piss in a cup to compete. I do not condone illicit drug use, however, steroids are used for many medical rehab reasons and pain killers are given out regularly by doctors to athletes, so I see this as nothing more than WWE using Mysterio to get itself a better public image.
- There are stories circulating of Beth Phoenix being cut from WWE. While I hope these rumors are not true, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to blame WWE for that attitude. While Beth has shown a lot of potential over the years, her matches of late have been laughable. My advice to Beth is the same as I would advise Shelton Benjamin, don’t talk, just bring it and conquer.

-[TNA Pro Wrestling News]-
- Trenesha Biggers, better known as Rhaka Khan in TNA has been ordered out of the Angle residence after a court decision on her PFA order. After ten long days, Kurt will be able to return home with Biggers out of the picture. The two return to court September 15th to discuss the harassment charges Biggerns filed against Angle.
- The “Immortal” Hulk Hogan” is trying to make pro wrestling news by joining the TNA roster. Hogan representatives say “it would give TNA that one big star they need to compete with WWE”. Haven’t we all heard this crap before in WCW? Hogan has already stated that since his last back surgery he is unable to even perform the “leg drop”, so who would really be making out here? Dixie Carter better think long and hard about this since Hogan is known for making the locker room uncomfortable.
- The whole situation with Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett is still unsettled and Dixie Carter has had to do double duty and become more active in the backstage duties within the company. No one knows if Jarrett will return and if he does, will he will ever be able to have a professional relationship with Kurt Angle?
- In more TNA pro wrestling news, both Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle suffered back injuries during their respective matches last week. Angle has stated that he will be at the iMPACT! tapings this week, but Joe’s status is unknown other than he suffered a sprained back.
- Former WWE diva Jazz is being considered as a possibility to join the Knockout division. She was originally slated to be the Mi Pi Sexy bodyguard, but due to a pregnancy, Mickie “The Moose” Knuckles received the job. Considering Angelina Love and Velvet Sky just tossed Madison Rayne to the curb, this might help to add some power to the Beautiful People.
- TNA is once again showing innovation with their women’s division. They’ve started a tournament to introduceĀ the Knockout Tag Team Championship.
- The sun.co.uk reported that Sting masks were being handed out at SummerSlam with the TNA Bound For Glory PPV imprinted across the back touting Sting’s retirement. The masks were eventually confiscated and thrown in the trash.
- People close to Homicide say he wants out of TNA due to their insistence upon splitting up he and Hernandez, it’s also being reported that he was given the X Division Championship to try and placate him.
-[Other Pro Wrestling News]-
- ROH Champion Bryan Danielson will be facing Davey Richards on September 25th in what is expected to be his last performance in Ring Of Honor. Danielson was giving the opportunity to face anyone he wanted for his last match and chose Richards very quickly stating that he’d faced Richards before, but never in ROH. Danielson was offered a contract by WWE and has agreed to it “in principal”.
- Former TNA pro wrestler Petey Williams is challenging Austin Aries on September 19th to a non-title match. Williams performs one of the most killer finishing moves in wrestling.
