Pro Wrestling News 10-07-2009
Pro Wrestling News and Rumors for October 7th, 2009.
- John Cena will take on Randy Orton in a 60 minute Iron Man match with no count outs or disqualifications. If Orton wins, Cena must leave RAW, if Cena wins, he regains the WWE Championship. Just a guess, but I see Cena leaving RAW before Randy Orton. As a matter of fact, I’m not sure Randy Orton would do well on Smackdown because he would have to wrestle. Another thing that might lean in Orton’s favor is the fact John Cena begins filming his new movie (another straight to DVD classic) in December. The film will be called Oxley’s Road, and it’s high school wrestling related.
- Everyone is also talking about CM Punk losing to the Undertaker at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view and why the match was scheduled at the beginning of the show. Let the the pro wrestling rumors begin. Undertaker had words with Punk about his wardrobe, stating something to the effect that as World Heavyweight Champion, he should dress better. Punk replied, “what about John Cena”? The story got back to management who, obviously, took exception with his attitude. They promptly scheduled Punk and ‘Taker first in the Hell In A Cell PPV and stripped him of his title and are stopping his push. To me, this sounds like a bunch of dreamed up crap.
- With Dave Batista now on Smackdown, it is expected that he will join the fray between CM Punk and the Undertaker and will be topping the pro wrestling news by competing again for the World Heavyweight Championship.
- Wondering why Gail Kim was refereeing instead of wrestling in the diva RAW vs Smackdown match Monday night? It’s because she was injured a few weeks ago and ruptured a breast implant. She is the second diva to have this happen recently as Mickie James suffered a similar problem last month.
- One of the bigger pro wrestling news rumors this week is that The Rock will be the guest general manager hosting the January 4th,2010 Monday Night RAW. His latest movie, entitled Tooth Fairy, is set to hit theaters January 22nd, so the timing would be good.
- In the “Interesting Notes” department, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship holder has changed eight times and the WWE Championship holder has changed seven times this year alone…. and Jeff Hardy is still the most popular wrestler, selling the most merchandise in World Wrestling Entertainment.
- For those of you who are upset with the outcomes of the Hell In A Cell PPV or the following evening’s RAW show, this article is for you. Read it! Next week’s guest co-general managers hosting RAW will be Nancy O’Dell and Maria Menounos from the Access Hollywood celebrity talk show.
- WWE Superstars this week will feature Ted DiBiase one on one against Evan Bourne, Cryme Tyme with Eve Torres faces The Hart Dynasty and Natalya Neidhart, and Shelton Benjamin takes on the Celtic Warrior, Sheamus.
- TNA iMPACT! will feature Kurt Angle teaming with Mick Foley against Matt Morgan and the monster, Abyss. The TNA Knocked-Up title will be defended as ODB takes on Tara. Kevin Nash will be defending the Legends Championship title against “SuperMex“, Hernandez. And AJ Styles will get his answer from Sting regarding their match for the TNA Heavyweight Championship at ‘Bound For Glory‘.
- Well, if TNA wanted controversy, they got it by hiring Lacey Von Erich. After stating some rather rude remarks about former TNA Knockout, Angelina Love, Von Erich changed her tune and retracted those statements stating that she was trying to stay “in character” during her previous interview. Unfortunately for her, Tammy Sytch (Sunny for you slow folks) isn’t buying her story. Next year, the two are supposed to work together on a wrestling-themed cruise and Sytch had this to say, “I cant possibly see TNA allowing her to do the cruise now… but if she does, and if she even looks at me wrong, I’ll knock the bitch out.”
- The now extinct NWA Title belt that Ric Flair once held may go to the highest bidder. Highspots.com plans to auction the belt within the next 48 hours unless Flair can settle the outstanding debt he owes the company. Flair pawned the belt in exchange for a loan from the company over a year ago.
This concludes pro wrestling news and rumors for October 7th, 2009.
