Pro Wrestling News and Rumors for October 12th,2009

TNA Pro Wrestling News

- Things are finally cooling down between Jeff Jarrett, Karen, and Kurt Angle. Both Jeff and Karen were said to be supportive of Kurt during his problems with Trenesha Biggers (aka Rhaka Khan) and things seem more cordial between the three. Jarrett will eventually come back to TNA television at some point, but Dixie Carter is said to have the sole decision as to when. Behind the scenes, Jarrett is taking care of business dealings and has been promoting the company in Australia for their upcoming tour in 2010.

- If you’re a Bobby Lashley fan, he has launched a new website where he answers questions and interacts with fans.

- TNA backstage interviewer, Lauren Brooke, has officially announced that she is engaged. Congratulations go out to to Lauren and her fiancee’.

WWE Pro Wrestling News

- The special guest host general manager for Monday Night RAW next week will be, none other than, rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg. The main event for the show will be Triple H vs. John Cena.

- The RAW diva division had an obvious shake up this week as Jillian Hall scored an upset victory over Mickie James taking her Divas Championship. As Jillian celebrated, Nancy O’Dell announced Melina Perez was returning to the RAW roster and Jillian had to defend the belt immediately. The result? Melina appears on RAW as the newest Divas Champion.

- World Wrestling Entertainment has sent out another mailer to fans asking for ideas on a name change for the Judgement Day PPV. The choices are:

1. Judgement Day
2. Riot Control
3. Multimania
4. WWE War Games

- Jim Ross updated his blog today with basically nothing to say and no specific answers to questions. He did make an interesting comment about the WWE PPV name changes stating “I haven’t been consulted nor am I complaining about such but obviously it’s with the thought of better marketing upcoming PPV events and therefore increasing the # of PPV buys these events garner.” What is obvious is that sales are down and renaming events isn’t cutting it. The problem is WWE took the emphasis off of ‘wrestling’ and put it on ‘entertainment’. Whether it’s a political, business, or personal decision, the World Wrestling Entertainment audience is bound to change causing pains on many fronts.

- Linda McMahon finds herself on the defensive from Republican attacks that accuse her of donating to the Democratic party in previous election years. Excuse me, but didn’t Ronald Regan start out as a Democrat and isn’t he touted as the group’s ‘core conservative’? Are these people daft? Stick to the damn issues.

- Speaking of issues, here is one that should be addressed right away. It seems WWE lawyers have filed a cease and desist order on the school of wine tasting in Philadelphia because they named their event “Sommelier Smackdown”. World Wrestling Entertainment went through this crap with the World Wildlife Foundation and lost the rights to the WWF logo. You would think they would not go and do the same thing to another business. How is this effecting the Smackdown wrestling show anyway?

- Dolph Ziggler did an interview with the Herald-Dispatch this week. After a year long silence, Ziggler discussed the 30 day suspension he received after failing a wellness policy screening last year. He described the suspension as “a worst case scenario” and has promised WWE fans that he will be a leader in future of wrestling.

- Maryse Ouellette should be returning to WWE television very soon. The former Divas Champion has not competed in the ring since the Night Of Champions and has been recuperating from knee surgery since July.

- Recent rumors that the Undertaker will be retiring at Wrestlemania 26 are greatly exaggerated. He is currently being billed, by World Wrestling Entertainment, in shows that will not even take place until 2010. While it’s obvious that he has slowed his schedule down and isn’t wrestling as much as in the past, he is still one of the #1 draws in WWE and continues to show the fans that he is more than capable of making anyone “rest in peace”.

This concludes pro wrestling news and rumors for Monday, October 12th, 2009.
