Pro Wrestling News Report 10-19-2009

The Pro Wrestling News Report for October 19th, 2009

TNA Pro Wrestling News

- The pay-per-view, TNA – Bound For Glory 2009, tops pro wrestling news and was touted as the Wrestlemania for the company. The results are listed below :

1. The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Lethal Consequences.

2. The Ultimate-X match was won by the X-Division Champion, Amazing Red.

3. Taylor Wilde and Sarita held on to the TNA Knockouts Tag Team titles.

4. Eric Young won the TNA Legends Championship.

5. Team 3D regained the IWGP Tag Team Titles & The British Invasion became the TNA Tag Team Champions.

6. ODB retained the TNA Knockout Championship.

7. Abyss won the Monster’s Ball match-up with Foley.

8. Kurt Angle bested Matt Morgan.

9. AJ Styles retained the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Bound For Glory 2009 was considered a success among fans of the organization and critics alike. Shortly after Ultimate-X, Jeremy Boresh reported ‘the backstage area looked like a war zone’ with bodies strewn all over and there were ravings over the Monsters Ball match between Abyss and Foley. But, the match that garnered the most interest was Angle and Morgan probably due to a spoiler that was accidentally aired that gave away the ending to the Sting vs AJ Styles match-up. Several wrestling personalities were backstage during the show including Rob Van Dam, The Brian Kendrick, Lena Yada, and Chuck Palumbo.

- Something that surely effected the IWGP title change during Bound For Glory is that New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) want the titles to gain prestige. NJPW feels that having the IWGP titles around the waists of anyone who is not already over in Japan is not achieving that goal which basically eliminated the British Invasion from taking both titles.

WWE Pro Wrestling News

- WWE Executive Vice President, Shane McMahon officially quit World Wrestling Entertainment two days ago. Currently he plans to finish out the year with the company and then move on. To what you might ask? Shane has not said. Nor has he spoken about the reasons for his departure from the company. There is speculation that he may join his mother’s political campaign, but there has been no official statement from Shane.

- The mayoral race for Memphis is over and WWE announcer Jerry Lawler pulled only 4% of the vote. I hope Linda McMahon has more success.

- In a weird kind of legal problem, former WWE wrestler Chris Nowinski claims that World Wrestling Entertainment creates an unsafe working environment. Nowinski cites the hundreds of wrestlers throughout the years that performed while injured, some even while recovering from concussions. He points out the dangers of football, also, citing many professional players that have brain damage due to poor on-the-spot medical decisions and pressure to return to the field. But he is quick to add that the McMahons have more control over the working environment than professional sports and that they should be federally investigated. My personal feelings are that Nowinski is either a complete idiot or a Chris Dodd mark.

- The Monday Night RAW lineup will feature Snoop Dogg as special guest host general manager.

- World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) memorabilia must be the hot items this year. Not only has Ric Flair lost his NWA title, but ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham continues to sell off his Hall Of Fame wrestling items on EBay.

- Chavo Guerrero put up a pretty nice MySpace page a couple of days ago. You can check it out here.

- As a result of hard work, dedication, and impressive in-ring advancements, Eve Torres will, most likely, be the next WWE Diva push. WWE management has recognized her achievements since her addition to the roster just two years ago as the Diva Search winner. Eve has shown tremendous talent and initiative toward becoming the best and very well, be the future of the WWE Diva division.

- Speaking of WWE divas, Maryse Ouellette is set to start cutting promos with your friend and mine, The Miz. I see MAJOR fan heat coming down on this combination.

- Finally, Chris Jericho released the second single from his band ‘Fozzy’ from the album ‘Chasing The Grail’. Here is the audio for ‘Let The Madness Begin’!
