The Pro Wrestling News Report for October 22nd, 2009
- Top TNA Pro Wrestling News Stories :
- Nigel McGuinness should appear on Total Nonstop Action (TNA) broadcasts starting next week on the iMPACT! Zone using the ring name ‘Desmond Wolf‘. The initial rumor involved with his signing was that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) had taken too long to send contracts and McGuinness got tired of waiting. Now there are reports that he, indeed, had a verbal agreement with the company, however, they felt his past injuries (two torn biceps and several concussions) made him a possible liability to them. TNA has been trying to sign McGuinness since taking on, British Invasion member, Doug Williams and president Dixie Carter is said to be a big fan of his.
- Not all news is happy within the TNA ranks. Booker T is uninterested in continuing to wrestle for the company and will not be renewing his contract. Many wrestling news sources close to both parties say the feeling is mutual within management, citing Booker as nothing but a ‘major hassle’ recently.
- Chris Sabin suffered a concussion at the Wednesday night TNA television tapings after landing wrong in a match against Team 3D. Sabin was reported as saying he was out cold ,but after a few minutes he regained consciousness and was able to finish the match. Apparently, Kevin Nash overheard a backstage conversation about the incident and went on a tirade backstage accusing Team 3D of not caring about their fellow co-worker enough to stop the match immediately. Later, Nash went to the ring and expressed his disappointment about the incident publicly (although we will probably never see it).

- Top WWE Pro Wrestling News Stories :
- Has Vincent Kennedy McMahon lost his mind or just his nuts? Ever since his wife, Linda, began expressing interest in a political office, the entire company has taken a turn… for the worse. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has made extremely poor decisions as of late and it’s showing. The weekly show ratings for all three brands are down-trending and the frustration shown by younger wrestlers in the organization is evident. How long will WWE be able to retain PG ratings with women who can not wrestle, but come out weekly half dressed instead? Does Vince think the art of wrestling can be done without violence? Can evidence of anything that could possibly interfere in his wife’s campaign be erased from the internet? WWE have even become intent on removing videos on YouTube that feature former wrestlers of the brand that are not currently contracted by them that they feel could be controversial. I am beginning to wonder if Vince will completely destroy the company in order to get his wife elected.
- With all the attention in pro wrestling news of the signing of McGuinness got, it’s expected that Bryan Danielson (who is signed with WWE) will appear on one of the brands very soon.
- Aside from the move to Smackdown, Mickie James is said to be dissatisfied with her future prospects in wrestling. Not only has WWE clearly expressed interest in younger stars, but James, who is currently 30 years old, has been working with a re-occurring arm injury as of late. Mickie has always been one of the more dedicated and talented women in the WWE brand of wrestling.
- On Bubba The Love Sponge two days ago, Edge called in an reported that his Achilles tendon tear was the most painful injury of his life. When asked when he would return to the wrestling ring, Edge could give no date other than July being the expiration date of his current contract with the company.
- For those of you wondering if Marty Jannetty was back in full time action after his appearance on RAW, the answer is ‘no’. It was a one-time fill in deal due to a no-show debut of Puma (TJ Perkins).
- Jim Ross‘ bout with Bell’s Palsy is not going well. Jim reports that it’s effecting the right side of his face, impairing his vision. Ross is currently wearing an eye patch and has further testing scheduled on Friday. Michael Cole will be sitting in for Ross during the RAW vs Smackdown ‘Bragging Rights’ PPV. Please remember Jim Ross in your prayers.
