The Pro Wrestling News Report for October 27th, 2009

- The top pro wrestling news story of the weekend was WWE’s Bragging Rights. Okay, I’ll admit it, I lost several friendly wagers on this PPV. So, here are the results:

* The Undertaker retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
* Randy Orton - 5 falls to John Cena’s 6 falls. Your winner John Cena new WWE Champion.
* US Champion The Miz defeated the Intercontinental Champion John Morrison.
* Melina, Kelly Kelly, & Gail Kim over Michelle McCool, Beth Phoenix, & Natalya Neidhart
* Raw’s = DX , Show, Henry, Kingston, Swagger, & Rhodes lost to Smackdown’s = Jericho, Kane, Ziggler, Hardy, Finlay, Truth, Smith, & Kidd.

- Some other significant happenings at Bragging Rights. Randy Orton can no longer challenge John Cena for the WWE Championship due to his victory and the mishap that took place during the match where Orton hit Cena with a microphone (subsequently busting him open) was completely unintentional. The match was stopped abruptly, Cena cleaned up, and the match resumed. Dave Batista turned heel by attacking Rey Mysterio after their match. Batista was incensed by Mysterio’s desire to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title and took it somewhat personally.

- Monday Night Raw has a new theme song coming next  week by Nickelback called “Burn It To The Ground”.

- It looks as if Mickie James‘ departure from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is imminent. Apparently, she’s signed with, Nashville based, Skyline Management Group and will be working for the company.

- Quick update on Jim Ross’ condition. Apparently the WWE announcer’s neurological doctors differ in opinion about the results of his MRI brain scan. Since they cannot reach a consensus, they will need more pictures of JR’s brain. He’s currently scheduled for more imaging and will not be returning to television until he is able to do so. Please remember Jim Ross in your prayers.

- Due to Jim Ross’ absence, Matt Styker will be moving to the Smackdown announce team while Byron Sexton (Florida Championship Wrestling announcer) has been promoted to the ECW brand.

- Not to be outdone, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) released a BLOCKBUSTER pro wrestling news story that has got to be seen to be believed. The Hulkster has arrived in TNA.

Along with Hogan comes Eric Bischoff and TNA management is said to be in negotiations with Ric Flair also. Insiders reports that Tyson Tomko has also signed a long term deal with the company.

- The TNA injury listing : Jay Lethal injured a hamstring and was pulled from the TNA card this week. Nothing serious, Jay should be back in action by next week. Samoa Joe was hospitalized after his match in October 23rd. He’s since posted that he is doing well on his twitter page. Eric Young undergoes throat surgery today in an ongoing battle with papilloma.

- The November 5th iMPACT! episode will feature Kip James vs Alex Shelly, Kiyoshi vs Shark Boy, Alissa Flash vs ODB, Rhino vs Matt Morgan, Kiyoshi & Bashir vs Lethal Consequences, and AJ Styles vs Scott Steiner.

- Taz made some interesting comments on his Facebook page vaguely responding to calls by an  EC-F’n-W fan to lose Vince Russ0 and hire Paul Heyman. While Taz revealed a lot of ‘ifs’ in the article, he either could not, or would not say any more on the subject. When I asked him to comment more, he simply replied “LOL.. No can do buddy!’.

- In other pro wrestling news, John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) made some political comments on his twitter page recently stating his feelings on several issues including capping executive pay, the war in Afghanistan, and his wife’s Fortune magazine mention as #17 in the “Top 40 over 40″.
