Pro Wrestling News vs Political News

Linda McMahon for Senate in 2010

Ex-CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Linda McMahon, has left the pro wrestling arena behind for more barbaric sport. Politics.

While Linda has extensive experience handling live events, internet rumors gone wild, and internal problems associated with the business of professional wrestling. She will find the lobbyists, the (practically) state run media, and the problems associated with politics a thousand time more unnerving.

First we read Republican incumbents saying Linda is unqualified because she has generously donated monies to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in the past. While it is true that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) strongly endorsed many Democrats in the past, was Ronald Reagan not a Democrat before he was embraced by the Republican party? Isn’t he the Republican poster boy?

Then, there is ESPN.com who comes out with the whole “fascious dictator article “, making her out to be some kind of self-effacing corporate monarch, questioning her motives, and writing her off as a viable candidate due to her professional wrestling background.

Did ESPN.com interview Linda McMahon? Ask her stance on any issues? No.

The fun doesn’t stop here though, the same party Linda and her husband Vince McMahon endorsed all these years turned on them and accused the WWE of advocating rape and molestation due to past performances. Democrats cited videos posted on YouTube and the videos were taken down immediately, due to copyright infringement, at the request of WWE by the host. Now, these same Democrats are accusing Linda of breaking laws that forbid this ‘behavior’. Let the lawsuits begin!

Does Sarah Palin ring a bell? Does anyone else remember President Barak O’Bama and John McCain speaking to the WWE fans? Does anyone else remember that whole “Smackdown the Vote” show? Neither Presidential candidate had a problem appearing on the show and asking Linda McMahon’s audience to vote for them. But, suddenly, WWE is evil and advocates rape?

People!

Here are the facts!

Linda McMahon WAS the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.  Both Linda and Vince were forced to declared bankruptcy at a time and had to start over again. They have built and maintained a successful (one billion dollar publicly traded) company that now has over 500 employees. Approximately $30 million dollars of her own money will be used toward her Senate campaign, donations are limited to $100. Donations are limited so she does not ‘owe’ any lobbyist or special interest group (ACORN, Planned Parenthood, etc..) favors ( taxpayer money). Linda seemed slightly timid the few times she had been seen during WWE broadcasts, hardly matching the ‘bragadocious’ nature of her husband. But spent 99% of her time and energy running the behind the scenes business.

On a personal note:

Maybe Linda McMahon is fed up with the status quo, knowing that the decisions being made by her Senator are not helping the economy. Her Senator, along with many others, will not even accept the same health care plan they want to REQUIRE us ‘commoners’ to enrolled in and be taxed for. Her Senator, along with many others, are debating while our soldiers are sitting ducks in Iraq and Afghanistan. Her Senator, along with MANY MANY others, are lying to the public about man-made carbon emissions. I remember Mount Saint Helens erupting and watching the ash fall from the skies… in Indiana. WE have done nothing of that scale and the earth has recovered fine and that happened in my life time. This endless drivel of stupid politics needs to stop somewhere. I honestly hope, even if Linda McMahon loses this 2010 Senate race, that someone will remove her Senator from his seat.
