This division of all female wrestlers was created on October 14th, 2007. It involved a collection some if the best and most popular independent female wrestlers all packaged in a Ten Woman Gauntlet Battle Royal at the pay-per-view Bound For Glory. The very first TNA Knockout champion was Gail Kim, pulling off a well deserved victory and a hell of a showing. The longest reigning Knockout Champion so far is the she-beast Awesome Kong. Kong’s sheer size, strength, and attitude gives any female wrestler on the roster who can beat her credibility.

Knockout title defenses feature some of the most original hard core matches you will see on television. These defenses have featured Gauntlet or Battle Royal type matches, competitions in six-sided steel cages, and once even a live head shaving. The usage of tables, ladders, chairs, and thumbtacks are commonplace. Even in a singles competition you might see someone thrown into a steel barricade outside the ring or get their head slammed into a steel ring post.

This all female division of TNA wrestlers does not cater to the PG or G rated audiences. So what you may see on iMPACT! or during a pay-per-view from some of the women is NOT suited for children. The Beautiful People’s ring entrance is one of the best in the business as far as I’m concerned. But again, not suitable for my kids to watch.

The TNA Knockout division’s continued existence and growing popularity prove that the female TNA wrestlers *ARE* a valuable commodity and that wrestling promotions can feature gorgeous women AND produce exciting and entertaining wrestling matches.
