Lisa Marie Varon is known throughout the wrestling world as Victoria in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and more recently, as Tara, TNA Knockout. With approximately ten years of wrestling experience, mixed martial arts training and a whole lot of ass kicking, Varon has earned her spot in wrestling history.

Lisa Marie Varon – WWE Tryouts

In 1999 while working as a trainer, Varon met Chyna who encouraged her to become a professional wrestler. So she put together a promo and biography and sent it to the WWF. Two days later, she got the phone call and was setup for an interview in within a month. Varon quickly found the wrestling school and promotion called “Ultimate Pro Wrestling” (UPW) located in southern California. She wrestled using the name “Head Bitch In Charge” (HBIC), wore a cheerleader’s outfit, and copped a snooty attitude like Stacey Keibler while in WCW. A month later, Varon impressed the WWE talent scout in her very first UPW house show.

Lisa Marie Varon in the World Wrestling Federation

Debuting in the WWF as the Godfather’s “head ho” Varon led a “save the hos” campaign. Later, the Godfather turned “Goodfather” in a character shift threw her through a table and Varon was moved for extensive training. She began working for Memphis Championship Wrestling until the promotion folded, she was transferred to Ohio Valley Wrestling and given the name “Queen Victoria”. While in OVW, she managed the tag team of Doug and Danny Basham and led Doug Basham to an OVW Heavyweight Championship.

Lisa Marie Varon as Victoria (WWE)

Varon re-appeared in the WWE as Victoria on July 7th 2002 on an episode of Sunday Night Heat confronting, then WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus. Victoria, sadistic and demented, began a long war with Stratus, claiming Stratus had screwed her over when they worked together as fitness trainers. At Survivor Series 2002 she won the WWE Women’s Championship from Trish Stratus in a Hardcore rules match. The very next night on Raw, after a successful title defense against Stacey Keibler, she was attacked by Stratus. She continued her war with Stratus, successfully defending the Women’s Championship title until Wrestlemania 19. Involved in a Triple Threat match against Stratus and Jazz, she lost the title to Stratus and ended their almost nine month long feud.

At Judgment Day, she unsuccessfully tried to regain the Women’s Championship participating in a Fatal Four Way match and on November 24th 2003 Victoria defeated Lita in the WWE’s first ever women’s steel cage match. On the final edition of Sunday Night Heat, she beat Ivory in a match that made her the number one contender for the Women’s Championship. After the match, Molly Holly, then Women’s Champion, hit her in the head with the title belt. In December on Raw, she competed in a six-woman Happy Holidays tag team match that abruptly turned into a brawl between her and Holly who were suppose to be partners. Holly was beaten weekly in tag team matches against Victoria and on February 23, 2004, in a Fatal Four Way Elimination match, she began her second reign as WWE Women’s Champion. Holly challenged her for a re-match at Wrestlmania 20 that became a “hair” vs “title belt” match. Victoria retained her title and promptly shaved the head of Molly Holly. On June 13th, after almost 4 months, she finally lost the title at Bad Blood in a Fatal Four Way match to Trish Status. Undaunted, she worked her way to number contender to again lose against Stratus at Unforgiven 2004.

Victoria shows disgust toward “divas”

Losing a swimsuit competition to Christy Hemme on May 30th 2005, Victoria attacked not only Hemme but announcer Jerry “The King” Lawler. This led to a tiff between the two that ended at Vengeance with Hemme’s defeat. She then joined forces with Candice Michelle and Torrie Wilson calling themselves the Pink Ladies. Victoria played the role of the group’s enforcer as the three of them attacked the 2005 Diva Search winner Ashley Massaro. Massaro was rescued by her long time rival Stratus and the two of them went on to defeat the “Ladies in Pink” several times. On the March 6th 2006 edition of Raw, Candice Michelle and Victoria unceremoniously threw Torrie Wilson out of the group. Wilson and Stratus joined forces against her and Candice on March 27th defeating them. Victoria and Candice’s team fell apart approximately four months later when Candice was the special guest referee in a match that teamed her with Mickie James against Trish Stratus and Torrie Wilson. Stratus and Wilson won the match and the Pink Ladies disolved. Following a win in a number one contenders match, Victoria kicked Candice in face breaking her nose so badly that she required surgery. The next week, she appeared in the ring with a clip board and checklist of divas to destroy. Every week she was victorious checking off another name until New Year’s Revolution Mickie James defeated her.

After being drafted to Smackdown on June 17th 2006, she started dating Kenny Dykstra and the two started inter-gender tag teaming against the likes of Michelle McCool with Chuck Palumbo and Torrie Wilson with Jimmy “Wang” Yang. Later, when Natalya Neidhart joined the WWE, she and Victoria immediately allied themselves together. Lisa Marie Varon’s last few matches with the WWE found her on the losing end of a few skirmishes with newcomer Brie Bella and her final singles WWE match was lost to Michelle McCool. She appeared at Wrestlmania 25 in a one time appearance making a good showing before the Bella Twins eliminated her. Leaving the WWE behind, Lisa Marie Varon began training in mixed martial arts practicing mostly in Jiu Jitsu.

Tara – TNA Knockout

Surprise! Lisa Marie Varon appears on the May 28th 2009 episode of TNA using the name Tara (short for Tarantula) and attacks the TNA Knockout Women’s Champion Angelina Love along with the Beautiful People. Within weeks Tara gained a title shot at Slammiversary 2009 against Love, but lost the match due to interferences from Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne. On July 2nd Tara began tagging with Awesome Kong against the Beautiful People, as the match ended, Tara placed a tarantula on the prone body of Velvet Sky as the rest of the Beautiful People ran screaming. On July 7th, 2009 during an iMPACT broadcast, Tara defeated Velvet Sky in a singles match. After the brawl, she took her tarantula out and threatened to place it on Sky’s prone body if Love did not grant her a title match. Having no choice, Love accepted and she became the new Knockout Champion for TNA. Tara continued her feud with Mi Pi Sexy for the next couple of weeks but had to swallow a bitter pill at Victory Road as the referee counted a pin-fall while her foot was on the rope, losing the title to Angelina Love. During August, she feuded off and on with Kong and the Beautiful People until TNA announced that it would be creating a Knockouts Tag Team division. She was paired with long time rival Christy Hemme and was eliminated from the title run after the second round by Angelina Love and Velvet Sky.

Lisa Marie Varon should be proud of herself, she’s won the TNA Knockout Championship and acquired WWE Women’s Championship status twice, retaining the titles for months. She has style as well as skill and I’m sure her time in the TNA promotion will prove fruitful since they will actually allow her to wrestle.
