No matter the brand, Gail Kim is one of the best female wrestlers of her generation. Her hi-flying, counter offensive and aerial trademarks are a-kin to lucha libre stlye, but I believe she adds an even wilder unpredictability to World Wrestling Entertainment.

Early Wrestling Experience
Debuting in 2002 for World Wrestling Entertainment, her first televised match was very successful winning her the Women’s Championship title in a seven woman battle royal. She held the belt for 4 weeks before losing it to Molly Holly. Gail and Molly then joined in tag team action against Trish Stratus and Lita. It became a long-running feud that eventually led to her getting injured and released from her WWE contract.
Total Non-Stop Action (TNA)
Throughout 2005 and 2006 Kim joined the TNA roster valeting America’s Most Wanted and Jeff Jarrett. She managed “The Cowboy” James Storm and the “The Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams and competed against Miss Jackie Gayda and Sirelda at several pay-per-views. On January 14th, 2007 at Final Resolution, James Storm fought Petey Williams and after the bout, she saved Williams from a beer bottle to the head. She was attacked by Storm and Jacqueline Moore (who became his manager) after the match. At “Against All Odds” Gail and Williams squared off with Storm and Moore losing an inter-gender tag team match. Her rivalry with Jacqueline continued into Lockdown where the two faced each other in a Steel Cage contested under Street Fight rules. Kim won the bout and the following Street Fight re-match with Moore.
TNA Knockouts Champion
On October 11th, 2007 at Bound For Glory, history was made as Gail Kim won the first ever Knockouts Championship title competing in a 10 woman Gauntlet Elimination by match pinning Roxxi Laveaux. She held the division championship for three months before losing it to arch-rival Awesome Kong, even defeating her at Final Resolution 2008 in a No Disqualification match. Inevitably, on the January 10th, 2008 edition of iMPACT!, her title reign ended as Awesome Kong defeated her and she never managed to regain the Knockouts belt before leaving the promotion. Before leaving, she declared war on Kong facing her several times in brutal matches and participated in tag matches with ODB against the Beautiful People and Kong with Raisha Saeed.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)
She once again re-joined the WWE brand in 2009 and came out swinging by knocking out both Michelle McCool and Maryse while they were engaged in a Divas Championship title match. After a short stint on RAW and approximately a month long disappearance, she appeared on Smackdown. Then two weeks later, on Raw, she and Mickie James took on Maryse Ouellette and Alicia Fox in an exciting match where Gail pinned the WWE Divas Champion, stunning audience members. On July 22nd, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, and Gail wrestled as a team against Beth Phoenix, Alicia Fox, and Rosa Mendes. Gail pinned Mendes to win the match after blind tagging Mickie James making her and Mickie possible prime rivals. On the August 7th, Raw broadcast, Kim won the number one contender spot to Diva’s Championship at SummerSlam by winning a Fatal Four Way that pitted her against Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly, and Alicia Fox. Kim was impressive and took out Fox using her finishing move. The following week, Gail received a Divas Championship title shot against Mickie James, the match started out well, but Kim was injured while flying off a top turnbuckle and hitting the mat face first, knocking her senseless and making her unable to perform. Gail lost the match but was still befriended by James afterward.
Best Gail Kim Performances
This wrestling match between Kim and Awesome Kong was for the TNA Knockouts Championship. It took place shortly after the Knockout title’s inauguration in 2007. Keep in mind, there is no blood; just sheer intensity and brutality as these two women duke it out in a no disqualification match putting each other over perfectly at every turn. If there is one match that I would suggest you see that involves women, this is it.
Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong – TNA Knockouts Championship Match
There is little doubt that neither Kim nor Angelina Love cared too much for each other’s company on-screen, but it all explodes before this match. Gail accuses Angelina of being a glory hogs, while Love contends that Kim has always tried to hold her down. The two explode in this match leaving Kim to take on both Love and her tag team partner Velvet Sky. She pulls the win and even avoids the brown paper bag treatment.
Gail Kim vs The Beautiful People
This Smackdown except features Gail Kim vs WWE Divas Champion Maryse Ouellette in a non-title matchup. Maryse is so painfully “outwrestled” in this match that she is defeated within 5 minutes. As Gail executes her finisher Maryse’s eyes roll back into her head as Gail makes her “eat da-feet”.
Gail Kim vs Divas Champion Maryse Ouellette
This VERY short match was highly anticipated, but was probably the worst televised match that Kim has ever participated in. If something could go wrong, it did, and what should have been a dream match for Gail, quickly turned into a concussion followed by a premature ending.
